We are and were very happy that the World Cup could be held in albstadt!

Everyone involved in the organization had to work hard to make the race happen. 

For us it meant to go every morning in all Hergottsfrüh to test! sigh

Besides that, we had been assigned the worst Team Area stand ever. sigh.

The weather had aales to offer what was possible; from snow and steibein frozen (sigh) to 28 °C on Sunday (joy)!

 

Now on Friday the short track race was on. Because of Corona the UCI points list of March 2020 serves as a starting basis, Ramona Forchini and Sophie von Berswordt were also allowed to start.

Finn did not get the best start, but that did not worry him at all. He worked his way forward continuously. In the last lap in the uphill he started and took the lead.

This he brought cleanly to the finish and won his first UCI Junior Series gold medal!

 

Later in the afternoon, Jacqueline and Annika got down to business. Jacky found a good rhythm after a good start. She rode consistently in the top 10-15.

Shortly before the end she used her racing instinct. She let her two competitors have a small lead before the Schwörer Steilwand curve, then bravely took the curve and took the full momentum with her......thereby securing 9th place.

Annika is in her first year as an U23 rider. For her, this also means getting used to the longer race duration.

At the moment she can not yet do this in the last consequence, that will come.

 

Nina Benz was a bit nervous because of her 72nd starting position. But she started fast and then went place by place forward to rank 29th !!!

Sophie does not trust herself yet. Her head "thinks" too much, we are very convinced that she has trained well but could not (yet) release the brake. It was certainly a hard race.

Ramona Forchini found herself in the race with empty legs, "rien ne va plus" is what they say. Too bad, she was correspondingly disappointed after the race.

Kim Ames, after her training crash, gave EVERYTHING, fought like a lioness, and wrestled with tears at the finish. The nice thing about her is; the good result of her teammate Nina let her beam again soon, so she was happy for Nina♥.

 

Simon was very set up before the start and we were excited to see how he would do on the track. Unfortunately it then did not go as well as hoped, too bad

Frazer had announced a reaction after the race in Leukerbad. He started very well and was on the advance there he stopped with a sneak the first time in the zone and fetched a new rear wheel.

continued his catching up until Simon. Then he got a veritables hole in the tire (?) and had to change again. Once again he stepped on the gas and got ahead of Simon.

Considering all the circumstances it was a good race, he showed his level of form.
